Wait For Your Prince
This book was written for teenage girls to help them cope with different dilemmas they might face in today’s world. She especially focuses on a girl’s self-esteem, and temptations that could be real pitfalls in a girl’s life. At the beginning of each chapter, portions of the story of Cinderella are used to set the theme for the point being discussed. There are also some song recommendations for the reader to listen to that go along with the subject line. A section called, “My Story,” is included that has a true account from someone who has experienced this issue. The author combines all of this with the word of God and speaks about each subject with candor, knowledge and good ideas.
The author is very up-to-date with current trends and topics that face today’s teenage girls–including some really dangerous circumstances that exist. The book is interesting, and would not be difficult for a teenager to read. She really makes the reader think by including surveys, often asking the audience questions and querying “what’s your story” in different situations. Mrs. Jakes gives really good advice about what not to do, but also, what to do if a teenager messes up. The author assures the girls that it is never too late to turn their lives around, and that if they include God in their lives, so much the better. God will never turn His back on them, no matter what they have done or experienced.
This book was uplifting, and really wants to get teenage girls to make the right choices, have good self-esteem and include Jesus in their lives. Mrs. Jakes doesn’t shy away from hard topics. I recommend this 5-star book to teenagers or their parents. The author has five adult children, as well as grandchildren. She is also the wife of Bishop T.D. Jakes of The Potter’s House in Dallas, Texas.
