Journaling in a Bible–what a great idea! Imagine letting the words of God inspire your creative spirit as you read scripture, or listen to a sermon. Ever since I first heard about Journaling Bibles, I have been fascinated by the idea of them. Now I have my very first Bible Journaling Kit. I have had lots of fun looking it over, as well as, being inspired by it.
When the Ellie Claire Bible Journaling Kit arrived, I was excited to see what it contained. There was a selection of four pages of phrase stickers that said things such as “Fear Not” and “Oh, how He loves you and me.” Also included were four sheets of alphabet stickers in both upper and lower case. I really liked the three sheets of colored tabs that allow you to easily mark specific Bible selections for quick reference.
Additionally, there is a set of eight colored pencils. What really sets these pencils apart from the ordinary ones are that these work like a mechanical pencil. Except unlike the thin lead that easily breaks in mechanical pencils, the lead in these pencils is thick, and ready to stand up to even heavy-handed use. Plus, you will never have to look for a pencil sharpener with these, just a twist of the pencil, and you are ready to use them. There is also a nice, fine-point black archival journaling pen. Both the pen and the pencils feel really good in your hand when using them.
Just in case you have trouble drawing lines, a sturdy ruled page protector is ready to guide you in making a straight line every time. It can easily be tucked into many Bibles, while everything else nicely fits into the pouch that comes with the kit. I liked the Bible verse on the front, as well as, the adjustable strap on the back of the pouch.
You don’t have to have an actual Journaling Bible to use a kit like this. It all depends on how much space you would want to take up embellishing your scripture pages. The sky is the limit on what, and how, you journal. It can be your thoughts, dreams or prayers. Or you can draw pictures or color certain sections, it is all up to you. Journaling really makes the Bible uniquely yours, and can express how you feel God is speaking to you. I really enjoy engaging the more creative side of myself by journaling along with my normal Bible reading.
