“High Deceit” by C. E. Waterman

Who to Trust?

Robin Clayton, doesn’t know which way to turn.  Her husband, Mark, a police detective, has been shot and lies in a coma.

What was he doing with the college girl who was found killed at the scene with him, and why was a lot of cash found on Mark?  Why didn’t he report the meeting he was having with the girl?  Internal Affairs is building a case to blame Mark, claiming he was on the take with drug dealers.  But is there more than meets the eye?

Other than one friend, Robin feels everyone in the Police Department is against Mark.  When she starts getting threats, Robin is spurred on to clear him herself.  While, trying to figure out who is responsible, Robin may have gotten in so far over her head that she will not survive.

This exciting thriller has a good story-line that does a great job keeping you guessing who is guilty.  The author knits together the different leads into a satisfying end.  Faith is part of the tale, including those who reject it, and those who want to rely on it.  I recommend this 5-star book to anyone who enjoys well-written clean, suspense.
