“Good News! It’s Christmas!” by Glenys Nellist

(Our Daily Bread for Kids Presents)

Illustrated by Lizzie Walkley

Little Town of Bethlehem…..

This sweet book tells the Christmas story in picture and verse that is simple enough for little ones to understand, without losing any of the wonderful meaning of Jesus’ birth.  Each double page proclaims something that is good news.  For example:

GOOD NEWS!

Coo the pigeons,

“we’ll make room in here.

And when you have your baby,

we’ll coo and flap and cheer!”

The lovely illustrations and attractive colors throughout the story with draw children’s eyes, while the verses containing the good news will grab their attention and delight their ears.  This is a larger sized board-book that measures 7” by 7”, and is well-made to hold up to the work-out little hands will give it.

This volume is based on the Biblical Christmas story, especially Luke 2:10-11.  It is a delightful way to introduce and welcome the Christmas story to small ones.  As December 25th quickly approaches, this is a good time to get this 5-star book, although children will enjoy this story year-round.  Its economical price makes this lovely book a great gift–I highly recommend it!
